Set within the rural landscape of Lichfield, this design was about creating a garden that felt at home within its surroundings. With expansive views across the farmland, the landscape needed to complement the home while allowing the wider rural setting to remain the hero.
The pool was carefully positioned to feel connected to the main outdoor living areas, allowing clear visibility while whānau gather, relax and entertain. It creates a natural extension of the home without taking away from the openness of the rural outlook.
The planting has been kept simple, repetitive and low maintenance, using natural textures and considered layers to soften the architecture while keeping the landscape relaxed and easy to manage.
Rather than enclosing the property with heavy planting, areas of openness have been retained to preserve the views and allow the garden to transition naturally into the surrounding countryside.
The result is a landscape that feels relaxed, grounded and connected to place designed around the way the whānau live, gather and enjoy their rural surroundings.
DESIGNED AROUND RURAL LIVING
EXPLORING THE DESIGN
From Home to Landscape
3D visualisation helped explore how the pool, outdoor living areas and planting would connect with the home and surrounding landscape.
Viewing the design from multiple angles allowed each space to be refined while protecting the open rural views that make this property so special.
